  • Kinnie Starr is in the ‘House

kinnie_starr_window.jpg Kinnie Starr has agreed to work with House of Parlance Media, Inc. to publish a book of poetry, art and photos. The book is scheduled to arrive some time in spring 2008.

    But first a little background.

Kinnie Starr is a sexy, mercurial MC / singer / poet / actress / beatnik / music maker who was born in Calgary and eventually moved to Vancouver. She was raised on heavy doses of Led Zeppelin, Sade and the golden era hip hop stylings of De La Soul.

She has released 4 records since 1996 and has performed around the world, opening for such Canadian superstars as Nelly Furtado and Alanis Morrissette. Kinnie has also performed in independent films and worked in Cirque du Soleil’s Las Vegas production of Zumanity. Her songs have appeared in films like Thirteen and hit TV shows like “the L Word”.

Kinnie recently spoke to the folks at ChartAttack about her future plans and talked a little bit about her plans for the book

“It’s going to be a book with a photo essay, poetry and sketches,” she says. “I don’t have a definite title just yet. I think an artist needs as many outlets as possible, music is just a tenth of my artistic output. I never intended to be a musician, it’s all very surreal.”
